A story of a homeowner trying to save her house

From CNN ireport:

We refuse to walk away from our home of 30 years, that we have poured our blood, sweat, and tears into.

I hope everyone sees that 50% of this plan is going to help those that are current in their mortgage, have RECENTLY lost a job and MAY be at risk. WHO IS NOT AT RISK?

The other 50% goes to those who are most in distress. With 700,000 jobs lost just last month (158% increase from 2/2008), where do WE, those who have lost their jobs over a year ago and can't find a new one, come into the equation?

Considering that housing was the beginning of this poor economy, it was never the number one priority of the past or current administration. Now, job loss is being seen as having the most impact on the economy. The two should go hand-in-hand, and anyone with half a brain should realize that.

This present housing plan will include help for homeowners whose home is valued up to around $700,000. Someone tell me how an "average, middle-class citizen can possibly afford a $700,000+ home?! There has to be responsibility. Yes, some banks made bad decisions, but people should not have bought above their means. But in the meantime, people that are victims of the economy may not get the help they need because the plan is geared towards helping those who overbought refinance into a more affordable mortgage. Those with a house they could afford, but have been unemployed for some time are suffering while we pay for other peoples' mistakes.
Most of us that are desperate will not fit into the government's plan. You know what, it all comes down to people helping people. In October, 2008, out of our desperation and against our morales, we created
http://www.helpsavehomeowners.org/ For those of you in our situation, there are resources there that may help you. This website is not about me, me, me! I am trying to advocate for everyone in our situation!

I feel very saddened to see what is happening with this country, which as a child, I felt we were the strongest, most powerful, safest, and most respectable nation in the world.

Also in this report are two conversations. One with AHMSI, my lender, and our local CCCS (Counsumer Credit Counseling Service), which, in this plan, is a prerequisite for any assistance. Being March 4th, I wanted to see what changes they have implemented based on the release of the President's plan. Neither had any new information, and said it could take 60-90 days to decide IF they were going to adopt any new policies for helping homeowners like us.
